I'm not to sure on having two catch notches on the booster or the Starship itself is going to be enough for the the catching arms? , Just wondering why the notch is not fully surrounding the Booster and Ship?..Otherwise both will have to be perfectly rotated in order to catch?. looking at the mock up video on catching seemed that way to me.

I know next to nothing about launching and retrieving rockets. The more I watch, I do wonder about a few things. I wonder why they launch, and will retrieve (catch) from the same tower? Elon owns a boring company? Why do they use a stack to high, instead of a hole in the ground, vented by X- tunnels made by the Boring company? Lower the parts down, instead of stacking so high? An elevator such-structure to work on it? Then a dedicated "catch" structure? 5ish tunnels may lessen the impact before it vents back out of the ground? Just thinking less damage, safer condition from a turnaround point? JMHO 8) --gary

If the booster were shorter - with side blocks - there would be no need to catch it. Musk can't build longer rockets over and over, so he will build a polyblock at some point. It better be now - instead of longer rocket with higher tower .

I really hope they give up on starliner and focus on dragon. Starliner is going to get someone killed.

Is the ablative coating a hack? Feels a bit like that. Would not remodelling the airflows and redesigning the front flap hinge area be a better long term solution?

It seems like it would be a good idea to have the second orbital launch setup complete before trying the booster catch. The worst-case failure for that is clearly "whole launch mount, tower, etc., wrecked." and not having to wait to rebuild that before the next launch seems worthwhile.

The degree of transparency at SpaceX is unprecedented. It never stops shocking me about how much they release to the public. They also never try to minimize their failures which is highly unusual.

I remember, when Starliner was launching, my only thoughts were that I'll only feel calm once Suni and Butch are safely back on Earth. I had a feeling that more stuff would probably go wrong...
